Flaggers must be more aware of surroundings

Letter to the Editor

Perhaps if the flaggers were paying more attention to their jobs, the injury rate would also decrease.

On many occasions of passing flaggers, I have seen them on their cell phones, or lighting cigarettes or paying more attention to the workers than the traffic.

Several are listening to their iPad.

I don’t understand how someone can get run over by a gravel truck that is involved in the operation, if one was paying attention.

It is time that the flaggers cleaned up their act, as well as the drivers being more respectful. To not take responsibility for policing their own, by blaming drivers for everything, is the easy way out.

Sincerely, Keith Wilson
