The Bow River Bridge, which was extensively damaged during intense floods in southern Alberta last summer, is nearly repaired.

The repair contract is valued at $2.1 million.

Flooding washed away about 60 metres of highway on the bridge’s north approach.

Crews are extending the length of the bridge on the north end to better accommodate future flood waters and reduce the risk of damage.

Alberta Transportation did extensive work last year to stabilize the structure and construct a berm to prepare the site for final flood repairs.
