The 12 P3 schools are part of a $550-million investment, announced by the Alberta government in May 2011, to complete 35 new schools and modernization projects (22 new schools and 13 modernizations).

The schools are located in Airdrie, Beaumont, Chestermere, Brooks, Cochrane, Penhold, Medicine Hat and Red Deer.

The government of Alberta previously used a P3 model to deliver 18 schools in 2010 and 10 schools in 2012.
