The B.C. provincial government has introduced two new grant programs to help northern communities with industrial development.

The two new grants programs will assist communities with up to $500,000 for asset management capacity building and community land-use planning.

Asset management capacity building consists of grants that support the review of infrastructure capacity (water, sewer, drainage and local roads) and assist communities in determining what additional services are needed for their specific growth needs.

Community land-use planning grants are used to assist local governments to do the work required so that their land use bylaws, policies and plans align with the needs for industrial expansion while maintaining community health.
