Positive financial results put SNC-Lavalin and Bird Construction in the spotlight

Bird Construction and SNC-Lavalin both received some favourable ink in the national business media recently.

SNC’s first-quarter results were released this week and it’s 47-cents-a-share profit shows the company has overcome the challenges it faced in the building of the Goreway power plant.

In 2007, the bankruptcy of one of that project’s suppliers led to a pre-tax operating loss of $267 million for SNC’s power division.

For an analysis of SNC’s results, see the article by Globe and Mail’s Lori McLeod: SNC looks to the world for growth.

Meanwhile, Globe and Mail reporter Shirley Won’s interview with Canaccord Adams analyst Yuri Link provides some interesting insights into Bay Street’s positive view of the company.
