British Columbia commits $9 million to National Maritime Centre

The provincial government made a $9-million commitment to North Vancouver’s proposed National Maritime Centre.

The surprise announcement was made by Premier Gordon Campbell at a North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

The announcement reversed the province’s declaration that support would be contingent on matching funds from the federal government.

The $9 million pledge is the first installment of the province’s contribution to the centre’s estimated $90-million capital costs.
