BMW Canada celebrates groundbreaking at site of new corporate headquarters
BMW Group Canada celebrated the official groundbreaking at the company’s new Canadian headquarters in Richmond Hill on July 21, 2008.
Designed by Sweeney Sterling Finlayson &Co Architects Inc., the 197,000-square-foot, $12-million building will be built-to-suit by Urbacon Ltd.
Urbacon will lease the building, located at the intersection of Highway 404 and Major Mackenzie Drive, to BMW upon completion.
The project features state-of-the-art technologies and systems and will be built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
As construction manager on the project, Urbacon is in the midst of reviewing invited sub trade pricing and expects to award trades sequentially as needed.
Site work is expected to proceed through the summer, then foundation and structural construction will begin in September 2008. Completion is expected early in 2009.
