Norson Construction begins renovations to create Vancouver’s first Wal-Mart store
After six years of trying, Wal-Mart Canada has finally secured a Vancouver location
The big-box retailer initially hoped to build a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly store, complete with wind-driven electrical generators, rainwater collection system, and specialized skylights off SE Marine Drive, but the project was turned down by City Council in 2005.
Instead, the retailer will renovate a vacated Costco building at 3585 Grandview Highway.
Norson Construction Ltd. will complete $4.4 million worth of tenant improvements, based on plan provided by Abbarch Partnership Architects.
