Reco Decoration Group pays $26,000 in damages after BSA finds illegal software
A British Columbia company has paid about $26,000 in damages to an industry trade group for having pirated software on its computers.
The Business Software Alliance (BSA) is an organization that aims to reduce software piracy.
It announced early this month that it has fined several companies after conducting investigations into alleged under-licensing.
This occurs when a single copy of software is used to install a program on multiple computers without proper authorization. The company settled with BSA after internal audits revealed pirated copies of Microsoft and/or Autodesk programs.
Reco Decoration Group, a general contractor based in Richmond, B.C., was found to have the illegal software.
