Construction set to begin on new arena in Fort Nelson, British Columbia

CJP ARCHITECTS LTD.

Construction on the new Fort Nelson Arena is slated to begin in February 2010. Conceptual drawings of the new recreation centre - heavy snow and ice build-up caused the old one to collapse in 2007 - were recently released to the public by CJP Architects Ltd.

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality received $10 million in federal and provincial funding to help build the project in September.

The construction manager on the project is Bird Construction Company.

Consulting engineers include: McElhanney Consulting Services (civil), GENIVAR Consultants LP (structural), J M Bean & Co Ltd (mechanical) and MMM Group Limited (electrical).

Construction is scheduled for completion in April 2011.
