Trades lack LEED understanding

RE: MintoMidtown becomes largest multi-residential LEED-certified condo in North America JOC, Feb 1

I was just reading about the need for construction companies to be up to speed on the LEED process and what it is going to mean to the construction industry and how it will potentially force change over time.

As a recent LEED AP graduate and as a participant in a current LEED project, I have observed that a lack of understanding by the trades regarding the LEED process is fairly widespread. 

This is not a criticism in any way, but an observation. 

I strongly believe that any educational materials that can be developed for the construction industry to advance the understanding of the requirements necessary to participate in a successful LEED project will be of great value.

The more familiar the trades become with this newly developed approach, the easier it will be to have all participants work together to manage projects and have all the players know what it will take to make it a success.
