Mike Holmes partners with First Nations on community-building pilot project

WINNIPEG

Assembly of First Nations National Chief, Shawn A-in-chut Atleo, and Mike Holmes have partnered on a pilot project to assist in building homes, enhancing community design, and planning and utilizing appropriate green technologies and clean energy sources to improve health and living conditions in First Nations communities.

The project will also establish a First Nation Centre of Excellence on green and sustainable community design.

“We are very excited about this new initiative to help build homes, develop new skills and capacity, protect the environment and engineer better communities for First Nations people,” Atleo said. “Too many of our communities are struggling with rundown and substandard housing and community infrastructure.”

The project will retrofit existing homes and build new homes at a community to be selected.
