Ontario’s Largest Construction Procurement Alliance Established
MARKHAM, ON (August 9, 2011) – Reed Construction Data, LLC (RCD) and Local Construction Associations (LCAs) in Ontario today announced an unprecedented strategic alliance to enhance the communication between construction Owners, bidders, and design professionals. The partnership aligns two industry giants for the purpose of providing efficient bid notifications and related services to the entire construction industry. Private and public Owners will benefit from the industry’s most comprehensive program for cost-saving initiatives and government best practices.
Through this partnership, RCD and the Ontario LCAs will utilize their decades of experience and established relationships to connect the purchasers of construction information with the industry’s largest database of qualified bidders. LCAs will bundle their electronic plan room content with RCD’s multi-phase project news service, Reed Connect. This will result in the province’s largest offering of construction opportunities connected to qualified contractors – providing building product manufacturers with access to Ontario’s largest database of specifications using keyword searches.
“Our collective reach to construction buyers and bidders in Ontario will be unparalleled with this alliance,” said Mark Casaletto, Vice President and General Manager, RCD Canada. “The partners have tremendous strengths and together we will forever improve how construction procurement is done in Ontario.”
Engagement with industry stakeholders, after a year of intense preparation, has culminated in a strategically developed solution benefitting all segments of the construction industry. RCD’s North American heritage and the LCAs’ extended relationships and credibility fosters a partnership that is both culturally adept and aligned.
“The time is right to join together,” said Martha George, President of the Grand Valley Construction Association. “Our alliance lays down a solid foundation for the future for how information is distributed and managed.”
“Each partner brings valuable resources to this table,” added Kim McKinney, Executive Vice President of the Toronto Construction Association. “Combined we have over one hundred staff and resources supporting this initiative.”
The partners have signed an LOI and are currently implementing the functional aspects of the agreement for market launch later this year.
