Yukon's first LEED structure earns its certification

Stantec and Taku Investments have announced the certification of the reconstructed Taku Inn as the first LEED building in the Yukon.

The 1940s-era building was extensively renovated, with exterior wall widths increased to allow more mineral wool insulation.

Windows in the store section of the building are triple glazed to maximize insulation.

Existing floors were structurally upgraded and were also filled with mineral wool insulation.

Water reduction was established through the use of low flow faucets, low flush toilets and low flow shower heads.
