Wainwright construction worker dies
A worker was killed at a construction site in Wainwright, Alberta last week after being crushed by a front-end loader truck.
“Workers were troubleshooting an attachment to the front end loader bucket,” said Yonathan Sumamo, spokesperson with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety.
The worker inadvertently released the hydraulic pressure on the machine and was crushed against the loader when the bucket came down.”
The incident happened on a construction site at 4th Avenue South on June 15 at 1:15 p.m.
The 46-year old man was employed by Alberta Laser & Tech Services Ltd. The prime contractor on the project is Battle River Transit Mix.
A stop work order has been put in place until hazard assessment and safe work procedures could be produced.
