Winnipeg Mint work is underway

Work in underway on a $68 million, 70,000 square foot expansion to the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The design-build contract was awarded to a team that includes PCL Constructors Ltd. and IBI Group. The project is scheduled for completion in June. The Royal Canadian Mint has two production facilities, one in Winnipeg and the other in Ottawa.

The Winnipeg plant is the high-tech, high-volume facility where all of Canada's circulation coins are produced, as well as coins and blanks for other countries.
