New senior planner named for City of Vancouver

The City of Vancouver has selected a new general manager of planning and development.

Brian J. Jackson, a UBC graduate who most recently worked as director of development and acting general manager of planning and development for the City of Richmond, will begin his new role on Aug. 27.

Jackson will bring to the table experience leading initiatives that are in line with key priorities in the city, Mayor Gregor Robertson said in a statement. In Richmond, Jackson is credited with overseeing more than $4 billion in construction value, including hotels, retail, office and more than 12,000 residential units.
