$400 million trades training facility to open soon in Calgary

SAIT Polytechnic is officially opening the $400 million Trades and Technology Complex for students on Sept. 15, after more than two years of construction.

The complex will house the MacPhail School of Energy, the School of Construction and the School of Manufacturing and Automation. It will also be home to SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services department.

The 740,000 square foot space will provide students with state-of-the-art labs and classrooms, which use the building infrastructure to enhance learning.

Exposed duct work and building systems such as HVAC are exposed to allow students to understand the systems.

Special features in the complex include a 3D drilling simulator - the first of its kind at a post-secondary institution in North America - innovative welding booths, and spaces for construction design and development.
