Saskatchewan’s open-shop contractors and the Saskatchewan Building Trades Council are clashing over proposed labour legislation. Merit Saskatchewan says the construction industry is unique and should be exempt from current labour regulations, but the Building Trades Council says suggested changes to legislation are a “low road to growth.”
Richard Gilbert has a story about a $3 billion pipeline to transport crude oil and diluent between Fort McMurray and Edmonton. The pipeline will be built by TransCanada and Phoenix Energy Holdings Ltd., a subsidiary of state-owned Chinese firm PetroChina.
