Two construction unions have launched a legal challenge in federal court over permits issued to temporary foreign workers from China.
The Chinese miners were issued work permits for a mine in northeastern B.C. and the unions say proper procedures were not followed when the labour market opinions were issued.
The British Columbia Construction Association has launched the B.C. Construction Foundation, a new charitable organization. BCCA vice president Abigail Fulton says the primary goal of the foundation is to provide apprenticeship training, but it will also contribute to worthy projects.
Staff writer Richard Gilbert has an article about a partnership between Transalta and Iowa-based MidAmerican to build natural gas powered electrical generation stations, and Patricia Williams looks at the reasons the construction industry is slow to adopt social media.
