VIDEO: The Evergreen Line in 2013
The Evergreen Line, which will connect the cities of Port Moody and Coquitlam to the existing SkyTrain system spanning the Lower Mainland, has made steady progress as it ramps up to full construction in 2013.
The initial completion times of 2014 and 2015 slipped as questions arose between the various municipalities and other levels of government as to how the project would be funded. Those questions were resolved once the Mayor’s Council on Regional Transportation voted to raise a regional gas tax to fund the project.
Pre-construction of the Evergreen Line started last year with the installation of power lines and preparation of railroad tracks for eventual relocation. More power lines will be installed early this year.
The project is projected to be complete by 2016.
