High flying construction

The multi-use Merchant Square development is taking shape in New Westminster B.C. The project will include a nine-storey office building on top of a four storey podium, which will house a new conference and civic centre.
PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is the construction manager and the project manager is Pivotal Projects Inc.
Hughes Condon Marler Architect and Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership are the architects. Matcon Excavation & Shoring Ltd. did some early site work.
Consultants on the project include GeoPacific Consultants Ltd. (geotechnical), Acumen Consulting Engineers (electrical), Glotman Simpson Consulting Engineers (structural), Exp Global Inc. (environmental) and AME Group Engineering (mechanical).
The development is seeking LEED Gold certification.
