Sinkhole Forms

JESSICA KERR

A Delta municipal construction crew placed mesh over a sinkhole that swallowed part of Arthur Road in Ladner, B.C. on June 19.

The hole was about six feet deep and about two feet wide.

Initial inspections were unable to determine the cause of the sinkhole, as no leaks were discovered in nearby culverts or watermains.

The lane was expected to be reopened to traffic later that afternoon, after crews filled it in.
