Construction Workers Honoured

BRADLEY FEHR

During a ceremony in Vancouver to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Bentall Construction Tragedy, Andrew Langley and Brittany Marti lay roses on the permanent memorial to four construction workers.

Langley's grandfather was one of four men killed when the fly form they were working on fell from the 36th floor of the Bentall Centre IV Tower.

Gunther Couvreux, Brian Stevenson, Donald W. Davis and Yrjo Mitrunen died on Jan. 7, 1981.

This year’s ceremony included the premiere of a video about the tragedy and its impact, which was put together by WorkSafeBC and the Labour Heritage Centre.
