Hundreds of products and services for the commercial construction industry will be under one roof at Western Canada’s largest Construction expo.
The B.C. Construction Show is happening Feb. 13-14 at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. About 12,000 construction professionals are expected to attend.
“We cater to a lot of different markets, for sure,” said Dave Tyldesley, show director.
This year’s expo will feature 550 exhibits by 350 different companies.
Visitors come from a wide variety of professions, Tyldesley said, listing general contractors, independent contractors and subtrades as some of the groups that the show is targeted towards.
“They can discover new products that will save them time and money throughout the year,” he said.
Tyldesley added that another reason to attend the show is to find answers to lingering problems. The booths will be manned by industry experts.
The show will focus on commercial construction, but will cover the full gamut of construction-related activity including, single and multi-unit residential, educational, healthcare, hotels, institutional and more.
A wide range of products and services will appeal to those in the construction industry and this year’s show will feature a number of green products and services.
A big part of the B.C. Construction Show will be the line up of seminars and speakers scheduled during the two day event.
More than 100 speakers will share their knowledge in 45 different seminars.
At least 18 different exhibitors will be displaying new products or services at booths this year.
The show will also include an on-site job board.
The construction show will be held in conjunction with Buildex, the Homebuilder and Renovator Expo and Design Northwest.
The shows are marketed separately, but will be held in the same place under the same roof.
“Each show targets a different segment,” Tyldesley explained.
The B.C. Construction Show is aimed at visitors working in commercial construction, while the Homebuilder and Renovator Expo is geared towards residential construction.
Buildex is about real estate management and Design Northwest targets architects and interior designers.
However, visitors will have the chance to check out all four shows.
“You can walk anywhere you want,” Tyldesley said.
He added that he is anxiously awaiting the completion of the new Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, which is currently under construction next to the current facility.
“We have outgrown the current available space,” Tyldesley said. “We are using more than 160,000 square feet for all of our exhibits, seminars and related special functions
