Note: Presently in schematic design. Working drawings and construction schedules are undetermined. A Public Open House was held Sept 14, 2013 to discuss potential redevelopment options. A formal draft will be presented to city council in Dec/2013. Update in Feb/Mar 2014.
Budget is undefined. The Capital funding required for the project is anticipated to come from the rezoning, subdividing and sale of portions of the overall site. RMC Resources Management Consultants (AB) Ltd performed a Functional Programming Study.
Project:to transform a four block radius (25.4 acres) into an exceptional mixed-use community focused on sustainability & healthy living; complete new neighbourhood inspired by the integration of community health & wellness facilities; the scope of the redevelopment may include: new residential care facilities to replace existing outdated facilities; health services/facilities to serve a diverse population; social housing &/or work force housing; a Canada Line Station; amenities such as a YMCA & community gardens; office & retail space; rental apartments; & market residential development (condominiums & townhouses). The redevelopment of the Site would require the demolition and replacement of the GP and Dogwood beds. The project would seek LEED Gold certification.
